PLUG-IN HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

As a concrete proof to our customers of a serene and even more pleasant future, Peugeot introduces its PLUG-IN HYBRID range. Rechargeable HYBRID and HYBRID4 electric motors coupled with combustion engines. An assortment of state-of-the-art technologies comes into play. They combine easily and are 100% user-friendly.

PETROL ENGINE & NEW ELECTRIC AUTOMATIC GEARBOX

The 1.6 L PureTech engine has been adapted, namely through the addition of a starter-alternator and of a specific cooling façade. It goes up to 180 hp on HYBRID and 225 hp on HYBRID4.

The PureTech engine works in combination with the new automatic 8-speed e-EAT8 gearbox (Electric Efficient Automatic Transmission - 8 speeds) specific to Peugeot PLUG-IN HYBRID engines. With this gearbox, an electric engine can provide 110 hp/80 kW on the front axle.

For optimal, imperceptible transitions between electric and combustion engines, the torque converter in combustion engines is replaced by a wet multi-plate clutch. All these modifications offer an additional 60Nm of torque*, for improved reactivity.

AN ELECTRIC REAR AXLE & LITHIUM-ION BATTERY

Peugeot Plug-In Hybrid

On HYBRID4 versions, the multi-link rear axle is equipped with a UPS, a 110 hp/80 kW electric engine, and a reducer to provide a 4-wheel-drive capacity. It was integrated without any impact on the vehicle’s spaciousness.

The vehicle features a high-voltage Lithium-ion (300 V) battery located under row 2 seats on both the HYBRID and HYBRID4 versions.

The battery has a capacity between 11.8 kWh (HYBRID) and 13.2 kWh (HYBRID4) — amongst the best on the market. This capacity ensures 100% electric mode when driving, up to  30 miles WLTP (1).

To reap maximum benefits from quiet usage, the default mode will be Zero Emissions, as long as the battery is charged enough. It is possible to reach up to 84mph in electric mode before the combustion engine takes over.

EFFICIENT FEATURES FOR RENEWED PLEASURE

Peugeot Plug-In Hybrid

NEW BRAKE FEATURE & ELECTRONICALLY-CONTROLLED BRAKING SYSTEM

The driver may choose to activate a new Brake feature which allows the vehicle to decelerate without pushing on the brake pedal. This feature serves as an engine brake and can recharge the battery when the vehicle goes downhill, for example. While in Drive mode, the driver only has to push "Shift and Park by wire" on the automatic gearbox control, towards the back, to access Brake mode. Pushing it again deactivates Brake mode.

To increase the driving range in 100% electric mode, the high energy efficiency braking system, i-Booster, stores the energy from braking or decelerating in tip-out (in combustion engines, this energy is usually dissipated). The i-Booster has an electric pump instead of the vacuum pump found in combustion engines.

NEW e-SAVE FEATURE

The pleasure of driving in electric mode whenever you decide is made possible by the e-SAVE feature. E-SAVE allows drivers to plan their trips by saving a portion or all of the electric range (6 miles, 12 miles or the whole battery). This feature can be easily accessed from the dedicated e-SAVE menu on the touch screen. Once programmed, the feature appears on the dashboard, where it displays the number of miles stored for later use. Just select the Zero Emissions mode on the driving mode selector to activate 100% electric driving when desired.

QUICK AND EASY BATTERY RECHARGE

There are different options for recharging your vehicle. The most efficient is to use a charging point – and government subsidies are available for you to install one in your home or workplace.  Alternatively, you can charge using a domestic socket.

ChargePoint/wall box (Type 2): 32 A – charges in less than 2 hours. Domestic 3 pin socket: 10 A – charges in approximately 7 hours. For quick and easy reading of the battery level, indicators light up around the charging socket. Once the car is plugged in, a colour code will indicate progress on the battery recharge.

The battery charge flap is located on the left rear wing of the vehicle (symmetric to the fuel flap). The charging system can be easily put away in the specially-designed storage space under the rear floor pan.

PEUGEOT 3008 SUV  HYBRID4: Average autonomy (1): 30 miles WLTP, Mixed CO2 emissions (1) : 49g/km WLTP /  49g/km NEDC, Mixed consumption (1): 2,2 l / 128.4 mpg  WLTP

ALL-NEW PEUGEOT 508 and 508 SW HYBRID: Average autonomy (1): 25 miles WLTP, Mixed CO2 emissions (1) : 49g/km WLTP  /  49g/km NEDC, Mixed consumption (1): 2,2 l / 128.4 mpg WLTP, Estimated data, provided for information only and subject to approval

The values given are in accordance with the WLTP procedure. As of 1 September 2018, new vehicles are being received on the basis of the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which is a new, more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and the range of plug-in hybrid vehicles. This WLTP procedure is carried out with more realistic test conditions and completely replaces the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), which was the test procedure used previously. The measured range for rechargeable hybrid vehicles using the WLTP procedure is in many cases lower than that measured using the NEDC procedure. The range values shown correspond to the average values of the vehicles in the range. All values shown may vary depending on specific equipment, options and types of tyres.
