What is AdBlue?
Put simply, Peugeot's new BlueHDi diesel engines, together with AdBlue®, reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and help protect the environment.
If you select a Peugeot model with a BlueHDi engine your vehicle will meet the strict Euro 6 emission standards which come in to force from September 2014*.
Peugeot BlueHDi technology works by reducing the nitrogen oxide produced by our diesel engines to a minimum without affecting the performance of the engines or driving experience.
Peugeot have chosen to use SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology and are implementing it across the whole range of Peugeot diesel engines* in advance of this new European legislation.
The SCR system will be progressively fitted to HDi diesel engines during 2014*. It uses a fluid called AdBlue®. A chemical reaction triggered by this water and urea-based solution results in significantly reduced nitrogen oxide emissions. A combination of the SCR system and current HDi technology makes up the Peugeot BlueHDi system.
What happens if I run out of AdBlue?
To function correctly the AdBlue® tank of your Euro 6 diesel engine must be refilled with AdBlue® fluid when required.
AdBlue® needs to be topped up approximately every 12,500 miles. For most drivers this will be carried out as part of your Scheduled Service.* However, the maximum range of a tank of AdBlue® can vary depending on your driving style.
If the tank needs to be topped up, the urea warning light will come on when you switch on the ignition. You should arrange to have it topped up as soon as possible, but it will display a message letting you know how many more miles you can drive before the vehicle will not restart.
How do I refill my AdBlue?
Simon Bailes will top up your AdBlue® tank with 5 litres of fluid for a fixed price of £7.99, if a top up is needed before the scheduled service.
Contact your local Simon Bailes dealership to arrange a refill as soon as necessary. This is a quick and simple thing to do, so we offer it as part of our while-you-wait service.
